Our free, weekly support groups led by a trained NextStep team member, provide a safe and encouraging place to consider the effects of abuse on your life.
One of the best forms of support for domestic abuse survivors is to talk to others who have experienced it themselves. People at all stages of their safety planning and healing journey can find relief and strength in both listening and sharing. Maybe you are uncertain if what you are experiencing in your relationship is abuse and you need an outside perspective. Perhaps you are planning your next steps. Or it may be that you left your abusive relationship behind already, but struggle to find inner peace in your new life.
Our free, weekly support groups provide a safe space to talk, share stories, and get encouragement from others who are facing – or who have faced – similar experiences. These facilitated meetings, led by a trained NextStep team member, provide a safe place to consider the effects of abuse on your life.
Get social support and positive feedback from other survivors in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space. You are asked to share your situation only if you feel compelled to do so. You can attend each session or just when you need support.
Our groups are held in both Washington and Hancock Counties. Childcare is often provided and we will try to help you with transportation if needed. There are currently virtual support groups available.
Please call our confidential 24/7 Helpline, 1-800-315-5579, to learn about our support group schedule and locations, and to determine which group is right for you.
NextStep also has a robust education program, which includes community discussions on topics related to domestic violence and customized programs in partnership with local partner agencies and businesses. Please learn more on our Community Education page, or call our business office at 207-667-0176 if you would like us to consider a program or support group in partnership with your organization.
