Your business support signals to the community that your organization is committed to eradicating domestic violence against our neighbors in Maine and beyond.

As government funding decreases, business partnerships with NextStep are essential to maintaining the free services we offer to all community members throughout Washington and Hancock Counties: 24/7 Helpline, safety planning and support groupslegal assistance and court accompanimentemergency shelterlong-term supportive housing, and community awareness, and resource referrals.

Our trained staff can work with your businesses to create and implement a comprehensive awareness program designed to address the ways in which domestic violence impacts the workplace, including the impact on your employee’s productivity and the safety risk to onsite personnel and visitors. By having a dynamic domestic violence workplace policy in place, you will promote healthy relationships for your employees and their families, and demonstrate your business’ commitment to supporting colleagues who are survivors of domestic violence and to disciplining batterers.

Our trained educators deliver workshops to business leaders, workplace teams, community organizations, and professional associations to:

  • Increase understanding about domestic violence among our community pillars

  • Define appropriate responses and ways to support the survivors of abuse in our lives

  • Emphasize the need to hold batterers accountable in order to end their abusive behaviors

In addition to workshops, we supply your organization with posters for our 24/7 Helpline, point-of-purchase displays, take-away brochures and other materials to disseminate critical information for your employees, customers and clients.

We also have a robust community education program, so if your business is in Washington or Hancock County, our expert staff or trained volunteers may be available for outreach at your next local community gathering or festival, employee health and wellness fair, campus event, etc. Our representation is often in collaboration with strategic partner agencies and local law enforcement in order to help us reach deeper into our communities and touch more people who need to know about our services.

Please call our business office at 207-667-0176 if you would like to become a Business Partner or are interested in having us deliver an education program for your organization.
